I have not heard of a tool you could buy to do this, but never looked for one ether. King of Obsolete who posts here at times, I believe had picture on this board of one he made. If I remember correctly he got 2 9u D6's running that had fallen through the ice and sat under water for more than a year. Without taking the engines apart.

i dont think they ever thought somthing like that when a 2u was built i have about six differant ones of flywheel tools like the one shown , you nbetter take the valve cover off first and see how many valves are stuck so you dont bend push rod or valve when it starts to move

Those tool wouldn't do you any good on engines with pony motors as the flywheel ring gears are beveled toothed.

Thanks for the heads-up! I've heard this before. I was sure the teeth on the flywheel were straight. Maybe the flywheel was replaced at some time in the past?
I'm going to have to go back and look at it again. Unfortunately, the machine is an hour away and I only get an hour or two to work on it while my wife visits with a relative.
