Can anyone steer me towards where to find an engine turning tool for a ratchet through the starter access?
Pony Motor is MIA so I'm unsure of what gear to try and make one out of. Would rather buy it if possible. Thanks, Terry

Maybe I'm dreaming? I'm inexperienced at this.
Is this not a tool anyone uses?
Does it not work?
Do I need to make it?
If so, can I buy a pinon gear somewhere?

I think you are going to have to fabricate a tool for that, I have the pinion gear you will need to make one, 6B1357, new, PM me if you are interested.

Isn't there a cover on top of the flywheel housing to view the timing marks? Just put a prybar in there on the ring gear and turn the engine over? Or is that the 13A's?

I seem to remember that there is like a very long starting handle that you put through the front directly onto the end of the crankshaft pulley to turn over the engine on decompression. Or is this just for smaller tractors?

Rome K/G - yes there is and that will work. I have a stuck engine that "ran when parked" 20+ years ago with the exhaust pipe open to the elements; and want to gently free it up without breaking any rings.
I saw KT on YouTube use this tool and thought it would be great.

John Gaunt - I believe you are correct about the long handle, but I thought it was for starting the Pony Motor. The machine is an hour away and I only get an hour or two to work on it while my wife visits with a relative. I'll look into that the next time I am there.

Josh I sent you a PM, but I believe I may have used the wrong term (manuals on order;)
I'm looking for the gear that directly engages the flywheel.

Some of the diesels, large and small, have an attachment on the end of the crankshaft to attach a lever like a starting handle, if there is nothing else attached like a hydraulic unit or cable control, etc, but those levers were was called a glaze breaker, to spread out the oil film before starting an engine that has been sitting a long time but not stuck. attaching something to the end of the crankshaft will not give you the leverage you need to break anything that is stuck free, and is not delicate enough to use for setting timing. The suggestion by Rome K/G to try and access the flywheel and use a pry bar on the ring gear, if possible, will work to carefully move the flywheel or put enough force on the engine try to break it free, but care must be taken not to damage the ring gear.
