G'day Pete, 75 engine made $6150 USD. had thoughts about the R3 , But those Americans must have a Bottomless pit of Money, John Hahn took Us to look at Teds Collection a few Years ago , was indeed one of the Best I have seen, Bet its hot out You way , Fires shocking up north, Chap killed near David's Yesterday from Falling Tree ,Qld government in Shambles trying to Deal with it. Offered Choppers from Victoria But "Have No Money" My son-law is one of the Pilots , One of Australia's most Experienced Fire Chopper Pilots. Worked for Years fire Fighting in Canada . LJ

Well Bruce P. explained to me the reason that the R3 commanded the price that it did. Congratulations are due to the buyer.
The other surprise was the Yuba Ball Track. Grandpa owned one of those. I have a photo of him on it pulling a level land combine on a steep hill circa 1918 or 19. Grandpa never swore and when asked about the Yuba, he responded, "It was less than satisfactory". Probably the most value that the Yuba could have provided him was at this sale. $45,600 would have bought and paid for his ranch in 1918.
My father remembers the balls the the tracks ran on and if they got the least bit worn and a ditch on a hillside was crossed, the balls would escape their containment in the track assembly. This was Grandpa's major frustration with the Yuba.
