Why yes it does. Like I stated in first post, this switch engine came from Allis Chalmers factory in Springfield, Illinois after its closure. It has lots of history. How do you think the plant maintenance man felt when he had to give Capital Caterpillar a call for parts on this engine!

This girls still for sale. I talks to my dad last night. He said it weights in at 79,000# and the engine is the same as a D9 of that era. He still would like to get $8000 for it or he would take a trade.for a running gas Caterpillar of the same value. This is a piece of farm and construction history as it is from the Allis plant in Springfield, Illinois. If it could tell stories of all the Allis.Chalmers and Fiat Allis it pulls around.

The engine in a D9 is a D353, the engine in the switcher is a D343, 420 HP TA, 2000rpm, 5.4x6.5 bore and stroke, 4,530 lbs , around 1965 era.

Thanks Rome K/G, I was just going from what my dad said. The weight is correct as it was weighed ny the railroad when he had them pull it down from Springfield to Carlinville down the UP tracks. It is setting less than 500 ft. From the end of the tracks.

Ya it is in a thicket now. It is setting on a original piece of ITS (Illinois Terminal.System) track. If you go through Carlinville, Il on Rt. 4 my father owns the north rr viaduct north of town. If you look behind Prairie Farms Dairy real.close you can see this engine. Would be a project, but a very historical one.
