My dad has a 1965 Caterpillar powered Plymouth switch engine that he is ready to sell
this little engine has a history, as I came from the Allis Chalmers factory in Springfield, Illinois at it close down sale. It has set for several years, and kids have gotten into it and put sand from the sand traction box down into the transmission. He is wanting $8000 for it. I will get pictures of it soon. Please comment here with questions or pm me for his phone number to talk to him. The engine is located in Carlinville, Il on the only original usable mile and 3/8s of Illinois Terminal System track in the State of Illinois, with a switch to Union Pacific track that is still being used by Amtrak and UP. Get in the train business on an engine that I am sure Allis Chalmers hated getting engine repair parts for!

The good news is that the engine has not been started and ran since it was put in. Darn kids can't leave anything alone. Workers from Prairie farms saw the kids on the engine, called the local police and my dad, kids got off scotch free, even though Carlinville has an ordinance that prohibits playing on railroad property. Guess the City defines railroad property that most people do!

John, I will try to get pictures tomorrow morning and send to you. I don't think my windows phone will let me post them here on the website, but I will try to get them on facebook. It is a piece of vintage equipment history. My father bought it to give train rides on the original ITS track, and was looking at purchasing more of the original rails path and laying more track to go into Nilwood, Illinois. He even had some cars ready to purchase, bit my grandmother had a stroke at the same time and the deal fell through. The engine hasn't ran for probly close to 25-30 years but hasn't been moved in that time. Feel free to call my father at 217-324-1553. He has moved into assisted living and has many projects that he needs to get rid of.

Thank You! I recently finished the restoration of a 1939 Plymouth 40 tonner standard gauge, I have a very nice GE 100 tonner center cab and a GE 25 tonner (quarter pounder). I'm currently laying 1.5 mile of standard gauge track at my house in Connecticut and would enjoy having another Plymouth in the collection. One of my largest crops is Christmas trees, as such I'm building the polar express complete with north pole, station house and 3 passenger cars to incorporate into the agri-business side of things. I collect cats so naturally am interested.
