That might work?? To match SAE #3 the distance between clutch housing mounting flange and face of flywheel needs to be 2".
Big advantage is your dealing with straight cut ring gear teeth and starter drive.

Twenty-Two ring gear is hard to find. Ray Puffer in Albany looked all over the place for one that would match (diameter for gear section and ID smaller or equal to flywheel flange, and then tooth count / profile. I think Ray elected to rotate his existing ring gear 90 degrees so good condition teeth were available at starter engagement time. If you don't already have a ring gear, that's probably a bigger challenge than fitting up a nose for the starter motor.

The tractor was electric start from the factory. The starter was missing. I will probably clock the ring gear 90' or turn it over and machine new lead on the teeth.

I am still looking for someone to make new ring gear.
