Looking for 1B5784 starter, Delco 1847705, 1105726. ANY unit any condition or pieces whatsoever are welcome. Or Delco part numbers.
Thanks
Should read Delco-Remy 1107426. If I could find a housing and nose would be a good start.
thanks

I'm wondering if you can adapt a different model with the use of those field coils. Seems a lot of parts are common and some adaptations could be made.
Even maybe get someone to mill a nose piece. The key is to get measurements etc. from known new stock because once the measurements are available, anyone can clone parts to those specs e.g. knowing the # of turns and the gauge of the field coil wires.
Cheers,

If one had access to complete specs and parts list, a cross ref list could be made for every component : the fields, end plates, drive, etc. Most of the parts may be found attached to many different starters. I see lots of random parts on ebay where the seller has no application data.

After banging my head on the computer for a few hours, I have found all the other parts to make this starter, except the nose. That is what makes this unit unique. I am presently working on an adapter to use another Delco product.
So I will see what happens when the block comes back from babbitt pour and lower end fitting.
Thank you for all your help and replies,

Drive end housing for the 736-E is a Delco #1849255. Good luck in finding one of those.
Armature # is 820626. Same as used on 1930 and 1931 models 53 and 54 Studebaker.
The drive end housing should be standard SAE #3 pattern.
Drive should be pretty common.
