Hello all, this tractor is complete and original. The diesel is stuck and so are the selectors on the tranny. The trans case is busted and the ring and pinion are not the best. I think there was an accident in the differential somehow. They welded it put it back together and ran it or a long time after that. As far as I know the final drives are good. SALT tracks, sprockets and all rollers look good and move freely on the 5 roller frame. It has a nice 4a dozer with all the hydraulic pipes and cylinders. I also have a Cat selector valve so you can run the blade or a ripper. Fenders and sheet metal are all very straight as is the fuel tank and seat. I don't know if the 44 hydraulic system works cause I never had the tractor running. Belly pan looks good and has the large tow hook. The pony motor is free and complete and I even have the original Cat spark arrester for it. I'm going to try to get it running. The fellow I bought it from said that the pony wouldn't engage the flywheel anymore and they got sick of pull starting it just to plow snow so they left it set. I asked for opinions on the value of this stuff but I didn't hear from anyone so I'm just gonna wing it. Give me a call and we'll haggle. I just want these parts to go to a good home and good people. I also have parts manuals for the tractor, dozer and the hydraulic system. I also have operator manuals for the tractor and the dozer and I also have servicemen's reference books for the tractor and the D315. $25 each for the parts and operators and $40 each for the service books. I live in central PA.

Thanks, Randy

Too bad about the main case trouble. The rest of the tractor looks really nice. Pretty good tracks (7U tracks are all getting rather short in the tooth. I was going to say long in the tooth, but that's the wrong direction). Those look to have plenty of life left in them. The rollers look good, nice big disk front idlers and the five roller frame would have made it a really nice dozer tractor.

I have to say that is the most unique installation of a spark arrestor I've ever seen. I've not had so much trouble with sparks coming out the breather that I've had to install an arrestor before! Just being funny, of course. I do like those original spark arrestors/rain traps. They are really nice, no moving parts, keep the water out and I believe they take the edge off the bark of the pony, too.

Good luck with the sale. If it were not clear on the other side of the country from me, I'd be haggling with you and thinking about a swap of those parts onto a different transmission and rear case.

Pete.

68, I've thought of putting rippers on my Mighty D4 and HO D8 but several have advised me against it due to transmission cases cracking. Is the ripper on your tractor appear to be the cause of the tranny cracks?

Would you please take some pics of the ripper assembly and how its mounted? Cracks too please! Thanks M-

Most valuable part on there is the Cat #4 Ripper....worth more than the rest of the tractor. Fits all 7U D4's and 955's to 12A8418 (all)

If the s/n is 7U26583 & up (1954) the engine is the later version with balancer.
Also starter hole as of 7U28232 (1954)

Ya those rain traps work good. I read a service reporter a long time back that said not to [no need to] install a rain cap on a rain trap.

Thanks for all the interest. I've been getting a lot of calls on parts so please be patient and I'll get back to everyone. It's a shame, I really did want to fix the tractor up because of the options on it but I just couldn't justify the time and money it would take and I had a hard time finding a case that wasn't 500 miles away. The saddles that holds the differential bearings are cracked, like the ring tried to climb the pinion or something. Here's pics of the ripper. I'm probably going to sell the ripper but I'm not sure what to ask for it yet. It's really nice and not worn much at all that I can tell. I even have books for it.

Thanks Randy
The serial is 7u37xxx I forget the rest but that should be enough to figure out what will fit your tractors

That's where they break when overloaded. More common to the loaders but ripper abuse could get you there.
