The D7 shaft should have the same spline couplings. It's just shorter because the D7 does not use the adapter.

It was last mounted on a D7E. I don't know if that makes any difference or not, I can't verify the spacer was used but have pictures of the D7E using this power unit. I removed my gear cover on my D6 and the shaft given to me when I bought it is too small to engage the splines. Unless I got the wrong shaft assembly the D7E splines might be a bit bigger than a D6 9U is.

That explains the special coupling shaft. The d7E is beyond the normal application range for the #25 9Dxxxx CCU.

Just my luck, the piece I have is not likely worth trading with anyone either, heh. That does explain a lot though, so I should expand my search for a D6 D7 winch coupler shaft too? The idea being the splined coupler is the hard part to find, and I can machine and weld to fit my needs.

Grainger.com has new spline parts, including 16 spline. Might be worth looking to see if they have the right sizes that could be welded together to make up the piece - a socket and a spigot, and just cut the spigot to the appropriate length. McMaster might have some too
Cheers,

I have checked hub city, McMaster, Grainger and some online sources, 1.7 OD/16 spine is common spline size, the Cat part is not. Located a shaft for $275 plus shipping. How bad do you want to sell your part Old Magnet? Heh, heh. I know I can make one, just started driving piling on a new bridge job so my time is limited for a while. I guess it's like an old carpenter always told me "you gotta want it" to make it happen.

Around here a machinists time goes for about $115/hr and it's probably a good days work to knock one of those out.

Not to take away from the OP, but is there a CAT machine that uses a 2" OD, 15 spline coupler? I've been told that is the size that I need for my AC HD11b. Having a hard time finding that size anywhere. I'm hoping that if there was a CAT machine that used that size, it would expand my search area a bit!

There are/were several AC HD adapter shafts but the HD11b is not one of them.
Some more less known coupling sizes....
