I took mine in yesterday to be quoted for re-build, (to a well known hydraulic, high end, designer, builder)
they said worse case, the guy said (Cadillac re-build) 1200 to 1500 each, I said really? I said give me a band aid rebuild quote.
They will take them apart and do a quote on Monday (quote is free, Jeeeeeez)
this place must be making some real money. it will not be on me tho. lol.
so I may be in the market for two of the cylinder's, 4 inch bore, 8 inch stroke they have 1 1.25 rod dia. front blade lift cylinders. original cat stuff.
Anyone got two of these that currently work, they weigh in at about 40lbs each.
thanks
Scott

one don't work, lifts blade up at an angle.
leak a little.
plus 50+ years old.
one is missing a large piece that bolts on the face of the cylinder.
both leak.
I wont know for sure tell they take them apart.
rods look ok tho.

That quote is not that unusual. I remember seeing a $3,500 bill for two D2 cylinder rebuilds by Cat several years ago.

what brand do I buy for after market?
I see lots of the with the 4 bolts on the out side holding it together.
Also see clamped on clevises.
Mine are welded on both ends.
that better?
I'm looking for 4bore 8 stroke about 22 inch closed, should weigh in at about 40lbs
3000 psi operating pressure I think . not sure on that one.
I see Prince, Dalton and so on.
brand matter ?
I'm a user of the dozer so, original equipment is nice, but no critical to me.
thanks

yes I looked at surplus center.
I will wait tell I get my bandied quote on Monday.
I still may be interested in some original working tool bar cylinders if anyone has them.
1,00,psi I didn't know that, my john deer 440 runs about 2500 when under heavy use. (it has the old rotary valve hoe on it)
that's interesting. no gage for pressure on the d-2.
thanks folks.

A picture of your hydraulic pump would settle the pressure question.
If its the Cat #44 or #41 hydraulic control then the 1,000 psi applies.
If it has a universal type pump added on it could be higher pressure.
