My brother just bought a boat (ship really) and he has tasked me to sell some parts that came with it. The main idem is a NOS crank for the cat d17000 (8 cylinder) I will be picking up the crank tomorrow (4-25-15) and can post pictures and part numbers and I will try to find out a year but no promises. Thanks for looking, any questions or help on info would be appreciated

This was extra with the ship. The engine itself is running the boat.

I would think it would be better to keep the crankshaft with the boat unless there are plans to upgrade the engine.

Every time I sell a Cat part I just end up looking again for the same part later LOL:doh:

The engine was born in 1949 and was rebuilt in the late 80s and now only has less than 1000 hrs on it. There is really no way to re power without completely removing the top cabin or cutting an access hole. I understand what your saying but I think he might be trying to off set the cost of the purchase.

Ya my luck is the same way, when I sell something I always need it later.

Might be a good chance that there is a set of bearings for the crank somewhere in that boat also.

I would suspect there is a very limited market for a D17000 crankshaft.
