I would like to buy the left side panel (4F6620) that covers the lower side of the engine on a 4U4218 D-2. The fuel pump sets close to the track on the left side and a this panel would help protect it from anything the track might pick up. Phone 573-433-9277 Thanks Brian Boaz

Brian---i spent 3 years looking for a set of panels and could not find any---so I ended making up my own
I made them about 2 inches higher than original to get a little more protection from the track

Dan Did you make the panels straight or did you make a ninety degree bend on the bottom of the panel toward the motor and contour the inside edge of the panel to fit to the motor or anything that stick out from the sides of the motor. The one's I had on a D-4 were made like that. They helped to keep anything from coming up on the inside of the panel to help protect things attached to the motor. (ie fuel pump, generator, and in my case an electric starter and the wiring that goes to it) Those look good on your machine. Brian

Brian---i took the easy way out and welded a 2x2 angle on the bottom and a 1x1 angle on top which i cut out around the generator and oil filter
they are somewhat visible on the right side pic. I figured i could always add a horixontal plate extension on the bottom angle to close up the open area between the angle and the belly pan

Didn't Sasquatch make some also that were close to originals. Or is my retired mind confused? I think there may be a post in the archives explaining how he did it with simple hand ingenuity at home. He is working 6/7 days a week at his new job so hard to tell when he will pop in to the board.

Finally got around to making my side covers for my D-2. Don't know if these are like the factory side panel but they will protect the parts of the motor that are real close to the tracks. I would be interesting to compare these pictures to pictures of original ones if anyone has a set. Seems that these are the first parts that come off a machine and get thrown away. Brian Boaz

Darn nice there Brian!! is the bottom flange bent from the vertical or is it welded on? You could sell panels easily as they are almost non existent to find
