Welcome to ACMOC.

We are not usually so pessimistic about saving old Cats, personally i'd love to have a running D69u for $4800 but you have already been duded on this deal.

Keep an eye out and you'll find something else you might like to own.

Unless of course you have a mate with a heavy lift helicopter handy. then 'd go pick it up. Happens all the time.

again, welcome.

now now everyone calm down lol you might be able to find out if this scrap dealer really exists and then do a deal with him throw a bit more his way and you pick it up your self then its yours or if he isnt real they might come back with a proper offer pay for it get receipt with a date to have it removed and just go and pick it up might not be the end just yet or as we say theres more than one way to skin a cat seeya

Sorry, I did not mean to sound so pessimistic, I normally give everyone the benefit of the doubt, and try to trust them until proven wrong. Unfortunately, i really enjoy helping others and because of that urge i have been burned many times by people willing to take advantage of people who may be quite naive. It has been my expierience that most people with a love of animals and or old machinery are quite trustworthy, but i have also learned that when people step into a deal that they are not directly involved in at the beginning, and start making demands or issuing ultimatums that the deal is usually not worth the headache, and i usually end up being the loser in the end.

with over 25000 d69u's in the world i'm sure a better one can be found then one that is so expensive and hasn't proven to be a runner. To put it into perspective, I was fortunate to pick up a d69u with a 6a hydraulic blade, front mount hydraulics, and a hyster winch, with complete brand new undercarriage for the price they are asking.

For that kind of money i would gladly sell a couple of machines that i have sitting in my yard, but my conscience wouldn't let me.

Really, all that matters in a deal is if the buyer is happy paying the price for the said product, and that the seller is happy recieving the payment for the said product he is offering. the rest of our opinions do not matter. I have paid what other people think is too much for some things but i was happy to pay what i did because i thought it was fair, i have also gotten really good deals on things and been told i should have paid more, but the seller insisted that i purchase said item for the price he had advertised, even though I told him i was willing to pay much more.

Jaxper welcome to the forum. I hope you are able to find a machine to your liking, its a lot of work and fun,& there are lots of us to help you along if needed. I'm not pessamistic about saving old Cats, I have my share. I am pessamistic about dealing with people once they show bad faith, or impose arbitrary or rigid road blocks.

They are trying to use you. Tell them to shove it. If one track is off then the undercarriage is probably worn out.

You should update your profile to show where you live.
This would make it easier for someone to chime in telling of an available one in their backyard.
If there is a specific reason to have a 9u, there are lots of them out there and in way better condition for that price.
I've been around deals like that, my advice is, they get it running, then you'll talk about $4800.
If you put sweat equity into someones' machine on their property, at the end of the day, its still theirs and you are out your time and money!
As far as the track being off, it could have been run too loose?
BUT!
I would sooner guess that the undercarriage is worn out!
This is a BIG BIG expense and physical under taking to recondition!

Do yourself a favor and find a better tractor for less money, use the balance to pay for trucking.

What for D6 is this, I am looking to find a D6 traxcavator, (high lift ) any serial number between 10a1 to 10a1616, its not hard at all t get a cat running, if no spark clean the points , maybe put in a condenser I just got a mag sparking last summer, that sat with no cover on, I cleaned the points and put a condenser in off a Fairbanks and morris welder mag, and let me tell ya it got spark real quick, it about nocked me for a loop, has the hood been kept on, you might find that the carb may need some cleaning, if it had not be run empty like you are suppose to on them, dad always ran the carb empty, so it had no chance of filling the pony crank case, and it kept it clean, as for the diesel, you might will have to drain out old fuel if it sat that long, new filters may be required, get the pony running put good fuel in it, run the diesel with compression release open, open all bleed screws, close bleed screw as you get fuel out of each one in section, then watch the fuel pressure gage you need at least 15psi on the fuel system, soon as you start to get fuel pressure on gage then open each injector line at the injector if you get dripping fuel there it won't start, but give each line a little time to actually start squiring a steam of fuel, you don't have to take the lines off completely, if the lines are really rusty don't put your hands near them till you are positive there aren't any pin holes in lines, with lines cracked open wait for each line to have fuel in a pulse like action, when they do ( it should start,) and start closing, 1-2-and 3 move compression release to the closed, and then close 4-5-and 6 if it starts firing and plugging, goose the pony a little its really not that hard to get them running might take a 24 hours at least

Hay 7018 your preaching to the choir, all good advice. But the original poster only posted the request for help and never answered any questions, all asked over a year ago.Another mystery we will never know the answer to,would be my guess. But a hint to others if we helped you and you didn't tell us how it ended never to late.
