I found this old d6 abandon while hunting. after a few days of checking I found the owner. he is an older gentleman and is not in the best of health. after talking to him he told me if I could get her running he would sell her to me. well I couldn't wait when I returned the next weekend low and behold the greedy son-n-law hears of this and thinking he is going lose out on some of the ole timers money has a new set of rules. I have 1 week to get her running or he is just going to scrap the beast. well tomorrow at 2 p.m. time is up. this is where im at now. I got the pony turning over but no spark. if I cant get her running I would like to see this ole beast go to a good home. someone who will restore her to her glory days. son-n-law has got a price quote for $13.35 per 100 pounds. (18 tons x's $13.35=$4,800.00) S#9U13629 1953 D6 SOME HISTORY. left track came off about 8 years ago. 3 years ago some had the pony running but the big motor would only turn over with no start.

It'd be easier to get the blade up and pull start it.

My BS detector is going off on that scrap price too. I doubt that the scrapper will offer that on a whole machine as opposed to being cut up into 3 ft. pieces.

If it weighs 9 tons, the price you were quoted is now only $2400. Freight isn't free for the scrapper either.

Good luck with it.

Funny how the price of scrap iron changes so fast. From the time a scrap guy leaves your property until he gets across a scale it always shrink so much.

Do yourself a favor and run away screaming. There are very few machines worth dealing with that amount of B.S. What happens when you beat your brains out to get it running and they change their minds about selling such a rare and valuable beast?

follow the advice on here, it is good advice, Run from the deal screaming, if the old guy wanted to sell it he would sell it whether or not it was running, "get it running and i will sell it to you" sounds like " you fix it, then i'll set the price so high you won't won't want to buy it, but thanks for fixing my machine for free!"
