Here it is. A Model 25 Cable Control. This Unit was last mounted on a 1969 D7-E. Notice the extra shaft and extended handle. Was also mounted and a 9U series D6. The book and all the parts go with it. Asking $1,000. Worked when taken off and stored inside for many, many years. nice clean unit in good useable condition. PM or Call (518) 325-7610 if interested. Thanks. Dandy Dave!

Do you know if this would work on a d4c 40a machine with rear pto? I picked up an old cable scraper that I'd like to use it with. Might be too big though

Whoever called me a few days ago and did not leave a phone number to call back. The pto drive shaft is 18 3/8ths inches total length. This unit was modified by Cat to work on a 1969 D-7 E. These photos were taken in 1972 and this is the tractor and control unit. Later it was taken off and stored inside when a ripper was installed on the tractor.

It was a long but uneventful drive home Dave, thanks for all your help. I got it unloaded and setting behind the D6 right now. I need to check the bearings, get a seal, and see if I can find gaskets and I will mount her up. I think I am gonna grind that chrome off the handle extension and paint it yellow. Tell Al I said thanks too, was a hurried trip but very much enjoyed seeing all your iron.

Joe - Before you get too far into your project of mounting the 25 on the D6 you might want to check the pinion arrangement in your CCU. The D6 uses a 11 tooth pinion while the D7 and D8 use a 14 tooth pinion. Both have 22 tooth bevel gears but they are cut different to match the teeth on either the 11 or 14 tooth. I know this because I had to do this on mine. The serial number tags on 25 CCU's that are set up for D6's actually have "D6" stamped on the tag. I didn't see this on yours and it wasn't on mine. I'm not saying the unit won't work but it just maybe "geared fast" if you have the wrong pinion set up. Maybe you might already know all of this but just in case you didn't I was hoping to save you a little grief and confusion. Good luck.

Pete

If I understood the original machine it was on was a D6, and it was later mounted to a D7. I will check and see what is in there just the same. Would geared fast translate to the D6 acting underpowered to lift a full bowl then? I will be pulling a Bucyrus Erie scraper with it so it may not be as noticeable as it would be on a Cat 60, I haven't studied the differences in cable reeving between the two but I am sure it is somewhat different. Thanks for the heads up, there is another tag on this unit that is painted over, I'll have to scratch around a little more too.

I have to ask Pete, how hard were these gears to find? Do you have any part numbers? My parts manual only shows 14 tooth pinion shafts so I'm guessing that is what I have. I still have a bit of work to make the scraper tow ready too, so no big deal. Snowing here today so I'm not opening the thing up until we have a nice day.
