Just wondering how much side hill you can get on safely before a guy has problems? I'm sure speed has a factor. Has Cat ever published anything as far as degrees/percentages goes ? I have a D4 6u 44 gauge and it can get serious pucker factor happening:eek: It seems that these tractors have a low center of gravity, but they can scare the hell out of a guy as most of them are not equip'd w/rops. I'm thinking of mounting a incliometer on mine for a ref. just so I kinda know where i'm at. Any of your input would be appreciated.:) Thanks, quinq

Suck 'em up.......go for it

Farmed this field several times with a 7u D4 before I got into the bigger Cats.

Not a graet place for a rookie....but ya gotta learn somewhere.....

How steep do you want to get?? I have had mine on slopes right at 48%
( %....NOT degrees)

I think 98J nailed it. I have a point I figured was a little too steep. I put a smart level on it and it came out just under 30 degrees.

At least you don't have to turn too much.

Quing,I would not side hill without a rops, and for sure dont try to jump off. There was a guy down here a few years ago jumped off a d4e with a open rops and the canopy got him.It was the last lot he disced that day, trying to take a short cut back to the truck.I would rent a late model machine with a rops. We use D4E SA and D5B SA without blades for discing firebreaks. These tractors are equipped with Cat enclosed rops, seatbelts and a roll of toilet paper. I forgot to mention the guy tried to jump off the d4 when the canopy got him. Be careful sidehillin been doin for 34 years.
