The CAT parts shown in the parts book are for "normalizing" the operation of the tractor at higher altitude and were available from the factory or for field conversion of a regular tractor.
D2-5J's, D6-9U's, D318 and D333 power units, 12E-99E grader, 922B & 944A wheel loaders, D330C generator set, DW20 water tanker and a bunch of Jersey cows to take care of in my spare time:D

Hi SJ,
Cat didn't offer the turbo's standard on the D318 until the #14 Graders (78E & 64C) and they sure didn't make many of those.
Turbo's were offered on the later D6's, 17,xxx up as an attachment primarily for normalizing.

Hello all I've been to busy to post but I have been looking in when I can. 98J had a pic of a IH 51. That reminded me I had some pics of Dad cutting with his. I scanned these, I hope the come out O.K. Dad was finishing up some green patches in the mid 60's. The tractor was bought new by my Grandpa and we still own it. But the 51 is long gone. Enjoy!

Some neat old D4400 era pictures. Thanks for posting.
Seeing the broom hoisted reminds me of the "clean sweep" signal used by our WWII subs after making patrol.

Bruce P: I don't see any operator on combine, must have had a self leveler to level it. I do see a rope coming from combine, to shut off the separator I woud guess. Anyway, thanks for pictures. Darrol

Bruce P's pictures look like Omar Wheat. It had a lot of long straw. All that straw and those beautiful shined look like chrome tracks explain why these cats would slide giving thrill rides on steep side hills.
Darn,, I miss it!!!

Darroll D8H, You are correct, no combine man. The rope was to turn the unloading augar on/off. The seperator clutch was thrown in at the start of the day and left engaged. In the top picture you can see a small red box sticking up from the dash, this was the leveler control switch. It was automatic and Dad said it hunted back and forth all the time. Also the header was switched to hydralic control. Must have had the pump on the combine.
