Hi Cat Fans,

Can one of you Cat experts please tell me what model of 951 this is ?

I was recently very kindly sent these photographs by Sir Geoffrey Marsh who is the owner of the Hampshire based company Marsh Plant who owned this machine.
My late Father worked for the company for over 17 yrs operating many different types of machine.

I look forward to your help.

Nick.:)

Nick, if it has a clutch lever I believe it is a 951A 63k series fitted with a Westlode cab. Cheers Al

Hey Iceman it looks to me a like a 951 not more. The 951A had the Cat-Towmotor logo. Then I wonder what the blue crane in the back is?

Nick,

The number plate appears to show an F reg, if you work out the year of registration it would confirm the serial number of this 951?

According to my info the 89A was produced in Glasgow between 1964 and 1967:
1964 - 89A1 to 154
1965 - 89A155 to 616
1966 - 89A617 to 1100
1967 - 89A1101 to 1599
1968 - 89A1600 to discontinued

The 63K was built between 1968 and 1970:
1968 - 63K250 to 472
1969 - 63K473 to 865? (i think this is incorrect see comments)
1970 - 63K866? to 987 (discontinued)

My 63K is 836, which using the above data, would date it as late 1969. However, it has a Bowmaker plate fitted with a delivery date of 11 March 1970? I have also obtained a second hand 63K parts book with 63K868 hand written on the front cover with a 11 May 1970 delivery date, so 1969 ending in 63K865 appears to be doubtfull.

Hello Iceman,

You ask if anyone here can identify which Series "951" Traxcavator is, well upon checking up I note that there was, would you beleive at least 11 different Series built as follows,

63K, 89A, 92A, 15F, 32F, 69H, 72J, 78J, 79H, 86J, and 19H.

As you can see from that, it would be almost impossible to identify from the photo's.

Sincere regards

Cat 60 , the thing to look for is the exhaust, on the one shovel the exhaust muffler is above the bonnet on the later shovel it was below the bonnet I think????, the only 951's banging around sites in the U.K. were 89a's & 63k's, to find a USA built shovel was a rare thing on the early Track loaders, I did work on a few powershift USA built shovels, they always seemed to have leather seat cushons ???

Martyn at the dealer over the years back then we sold a few front end loaders with the side dump buckets on them but can,t remember exactly what they ordered them for or just what job they used them on now but I guess they were needed for their particular job.I also believe we also installed a few on some rubber tired front loaders too.

That is not a 951. It is a 955H.

Just to satisfy my curiousity...are there any real differences between a 951 sold in Europe, and the 955 sold in the US of this vintage? They look like the 955 H series I am used to.
Thanks,
