yes you can double stack rings and it will sort of work you can also get "cords" type rings which are a multi segment ring.

well got pony back together 2 days ago- Found aftermarket ring packs for 20 bucks each. I had zero valve lash on one side and ring gaps were HUGE.. in the 100 thou range!! almost as thick as the darn ring. Anyway for less than $300 i shd be back up and running with all internals in good shape.

I machined my own main bearing with the 50 thou I found during disassembly and it came out RIGHT on the money. Set ring gaps and valve clearances (prob a little wide) - i thought spec was 12 thou on pony seems it was 8 oh well she will run ok as is at 12.

Part numbers are here:$11 - Bushings were 2-1/4 OD and 1-7/8 ID stock from an ebay seller. Didnt touch the OD and it was a perfect interference fit - medium taps with hammer to get it in- I had to remvoe a minimal amount on the ID to get around 2 -2.5 thou clearance.
