D7E problems

Ryan, if you can get to Princess Auto they have good inexpensive gauges. Try to get a 500 PSI for high pressures and a 200 PSI for checking the torque pressures. If there is no plug on the filter housing top then you need to clean off the trans top and get to the 3 plugs(1/8NPT) on the valve body. They are under the small square cover. Marked, P1 (Speed Clutch), P2 (Directional Clutch) and P3 (Torque Inlet). The Torque Inlet valve is to protect the torque from blowing up with cold oil, you can only get a good reading of it when you first start up with cold oil and stall the torque (Brakes on in 3Rd Gear with Full Throttle). When the oil warms up it will be about 10 PSI higher than Torque Outlet at Torque Stall. Torque Outlet is a 1/8"NPT plug in the outlet valve down on the torque housing where the line to the cooler connects.
From what you say the whine sounds like a bearing on the trans input shaft.

On a D7E, you check the main pump pressure by tapping into the plug that is on top of the trans pump. You will need an ORB fitting, but I can't remember the size. As far as the noise goes, a 7E has a whine that is normal, so without hearing it, I couldn't tell you if you have a problem or not.

Again the Service Manual states the test plug is on the pump and is a 1/8 in.-27 TPI (standard 1/8 in. pipe plug).
There are no test plugs on either magnetic strainer or the main hydraulic filter.

That's where my service manual shows them as well. The one thing it doesn't tell me though is what size fittings but you guys have taken care of that for me.

Probably end up at Hypower as they're the closest to me. Little higher then princes but they know us pretty good so they come down a little most of the time. If in doubt they always bring out the princess catalogue.lol..

I've got a video of it running that you can hear the whine a bit but with dial up internet it's almost imposible to do anything with. It's a quicktime file.

Ryan, just get the pressures right and check the magnetic screen every week for a while when useing it. If te noise doesn't get worse and the screen doesn't start getting a lot of metal in it it should be fine. Any problem will show up in the screen fast.
Also record what happens to the pump pressure at low idle when you pull each steering clutch lever.
