Heres a photo of a good old 2U with a CAT 8A Dozer and good working condition in her work clothes.  Each kid run a clutch and brake! I’ve added a pic of the cat in action and a shot of the original owner operated from 1997 when he was 81 building a pond.

Hi deereskinner,
Is it my eyes or has that 2U been fitted with 14A/15A track frames? Also had a turbo fitted and bonnet modified?
My 8R D8 in working clothes cutting out a shed site to house the collection earlier last year.

Yes D8Dude, the old boy that had this 2U put the turbocharger on it himself and he also added the seventh roller and extended the track frame. Built nearly every farm pond in the area, creeks cleanouts, lots of drainage projects and mountain roads. He was a neighbor, a small farmer who used this D8 to supplement his income.

td-alan,
You have a beautiful D5 project there. I have only seen pictures of the early D5 never been near one. Don't know if any made it to the northwest, I'm sure someone will correct me if there is. Keep up the good work, I would be embarrassed to show you my shop, yours is well kept! I have a 1939 D4 7J

Agree, very nice shop, make many envious!

There were several D5's here in Sacramento Valley. Everything I heard of them was negative - engines were not good and the rear ends were too light for the Hp?
One local farmer had two of them, relegated them to pulling grain drill and spike tooth harrow.
That being said, you have a good project going and will be one of the least common machines. Keep up the good work!
