Hello, Mike Hudson.
Quote from some member calling himself, "MIke Hudson" from three posts above. {If that'z not you, you need to hunt him down and tell him to stop posting using your name:)
"The Magazine. The moderation of the site. When I joined it took several days just for You all to get my username and password working. I’m sure you remember that. When you seen the problems with getting the magazine out, you should not have taken money for it. You yourself told me I could read it online, sir I choose to have a paper copy. The entire working mechanism of this forum, compared to others just isn’t as good. "
Unquote.
You have done a LOTTTT more than just "ask questions". You have also aired your 'dis-satisfied' views on the club and the volunteers who run it.
Azfer 'stopping', even though I am in Australia, I am gonna plead your constitution's 'First Amendment', partly 'coz I was here first and partly 'coz I have done just a tad more than you to help keep the club functioning - but not nearly as much as some.
And again I will offer this saying: "What you say or think about others 'ackshully' says more abut YOU than it does about them."
Just my 0.02.
You have a wonderful day. Best wishes. Deas Plant.

Hi, D4Jim.
Congratulations, Sir. That is about the most polite 'invitation' that I have ever seen to someone who appears to be unhappy with their current situation.

Hi, jabberwocki.
18A and 19A were the first two models of the D9, direct drive and torque converter drive respectively. It was a part of Caterpillar's model designation system used for denoting variations within a particular tractor model. F'rinstance, with D4s, 6U was the narrow gauge version and 7U was the wide gauge version of basically the same tractor.
You may sometimes see the letter "W" in a serial # suffix - was their earlier way of denoting a wide gauge tractor. Likewise, the letters, "SP" were used to denote some different parts within that particular machine, usually related to internal specifications such as gearing and pretty much never to attachments.
Hope this helps.

Mike, as a fellow Cat lover I hate to see you having so much angst and dissatisfaction over ACMOC and the website. Maybe this will help you out.
Give me your name and address and the amount you paid for the membership and I will send you that amount. That way you will not feel obligated to use ACMOC and the Forum in any way so you can begin posting on TikTok rather than ACMOC. Just a suggestion to help a fellow Cat lover.
As per your suggestion, Jim, Mike Hudson has agreed to receive a full refund and so hopefully he will now quietly disappear from the forum.
My sincere apologies to all on here and Jabberwoki in particular, for this episode, which has "hijacked" his thread, hopefully we can now get back to normal.

Several years ago I had a good friend who died after a long difficult time following a stroke. Several weeks or months after his death I asked his widow, also a good friend, what she was going to do with his Caterpillar. At that time I didn't know what CAT it was or how bad it was. She told me if I wanted it, to please take it! Well, I had never been on a CAT but now found myself with a dead D4, seized engine, non working steering clutches, and a pretty worn out hydraulic system. I joined ACMOC and have been helped through every problem I encountered. Not only helped, but helped with kindness and sympathy for such an ignorant person such as myself. When one first joins any club it is because they have a need for knowledge and support. I have found both here. After being in the club a while, you find yourself more interested in the fellowship than the actual machine. You go to events to meet and see the folks who have become your friends. Thank you to every soul has has helped with my issues. Thank you for your friendship! Merry Christmas to all!

if you do aquire a old cat you need three book for it.
the owners maintnance instruction(owner manual) has info such as what fluids to use and when starting procedure lubrication points how to check fluids and some of the adjustments such as the clutch etc.
the serviceman reference(workshop manual)
and the parts book which is perhaps more important than the others as it will help you get parts. the dealers still have a range of parts available for these old girls but need part numbers to help you as they dont have the info by model number any more.
there is parts books for some of the attachments too such as dozer-blades and the hydraulic pump units and related rams etc
