it was a dangerous and difficult job. and then the powers at be decided aerial spraying with herbicides was the answer and it made a lot of people very sick it even affected their grand children. due to dioxin contamination of those herbicides. especially the mixes that contained 2,4,5T unless your incredibly precise in process control its almost impossible to not get dioxin contamination in the finished product.

hell store it incorrectly and it will form dioxins on its own. nasty bloody stuff.

the way many korea and vietnam vets were treated when they came home was a shame. even from other veterans because their wars were officially considered a police action. war is war war is hell. if politicians had to go and fight on the frontline we probably wouldnt have wars.

an australian navy vet described in his auto biography how they deliberately arrived in sydney at night and that no one was waiting to welcome them home. some of that decision was to avoid them being abused by protestors as had happened in the USA.

Salute our vietnam landclears, My story I was with the 25 Div infantry 1/27 wulfhounds recon co e.Late in 1968 northwest of saigon a helicopter flew in a d4 dozer to clear trees.when the huge chopper was leaving the transmission went out on the chopper and it dropped about 30 feet and landed in front of our dugout.Recon watched over the chopper all night. The dozer cleared trees in the daylight hours. We went on a mission the next day and the chopper was gone when we returned to the base camp.
