Time to remember with reverance and thanks to all the Veterans of the ages.
Caterpillar served our forces since WW1 to today.
IHC and AC served along with other manufactures, without them it would have certainly been much tougher.
THANK YOU and your families!

I have searched my computer all morning for pictures of the strangest bulldozer used in Vietnam. I didn't find them but it was a 'dozer with the operator seated directly behind the blade! Can anyone help me with the brand name or pics?
Thanks,
Craig

Hi seiscat.
Eimco - 103 and 105 were the model designations if my memory is 'kee-wrecked'. They also made a tracked loader around the same size. I do have photos of all of them bit I am onna restricted 'net connection here and so can not post them.
Hope this helps.
Just my 0.02.
You have a wonderful day. Best wishes. Deas Plant.

The Emico had a very low center of gravity, and stayed on a side slope very well. So a number of irrigation districts in the San Joaquin valley accumulated them as the military released them. When an irrigation districted decided they where to old my uncle bought one to use in his municipal dump land fill he was operating for the town of Paso Robles.
It had brand new Cat D8H undercarriage, and a Detroit V 6 engine. From his AC HD 14 days a big believer in the DD engines. I helped remove the engine to send it out for overhaul. I don't know details but engine took for ever. Things went bad with the city, and he retired. Another Emico enthusiast came looking for the Emico, and the pieces went home with him. So I never saw it operate. But just sitting in the seat without the blade on was very different feeling to me. I would not have thought not the best for jungle clearing. Or any other brush clearing. Kind of like a cab over truck you are first to all the action.

Hi, ROME K/G.
A LOTTTT of your veterans and some of ours got to operate these Eimco machines in country so, if you're gonna salute those men, I don't think it hurts anyone to mention that they didn't only have Cat machines to work with.
