Funny they used an old wooden wagon wheel nut wrench for a drawbar swing pin. Straighten that out, thats an antique in itself!

What I want to know is since when does JM do what his brother tells him? (great project btw, keep us updated!)

"Bear" poking back!
JM does not single his Brother out - when does he do anything others tell him?
Ever try pushing a chain - perfect example.

CTS - I was thinking exactly the same thing, my guess is Bro kicked his butt when they were youngsters, and it has stuck. :)

Hi, swilling.
There were 2 series of the Cat 22, 2F from 1 to 9999 and 1J from 1 to 5,000 something. That would make your machine a very early first series which, I think would place it somewhere in 1933. If I am wrong, I have ABSOLUTELY no doubt that someone will be along to correct me.

As Dandy Dave said, if you can find a parts machine with at least most of the parts that you need, that would be a good place to start, especially as it would likely leave you with bunch more parts for future 'emergencies'.

The 22s were among the most bullet proof small crawlers of that era.

Just my 02.

Thanks! this is great to learn, hard to believe its that early of a machine, kind of neat! - yes a Parts tractor would be ideal, but honestly, this machine seems like a 'parts tractor' anything else around here is complete - so buying a complete one and decommissioning it for this one might seem a bit assbackwards (however thats pretty common approach for me lol)

Cheers

Somewhere there's a machine that has had the under carriage beat to death or torn apart. That's the one you want for a parts doner.

Twenty Two parts machines are out there, just be patient. Myself, I am not a fan of knocking one in the head for parts, but guys like Ray54 taught me having a sacrificial hulk is okay.
"One must die, to allow another to live?" His motto. LOL. Can't save them all...
As far as myself following orders? Hmmmph!!! That is a sore subject with every woman I have been around, Mr. JuiceMan does what he does; maybe that is why I am not married.
I do find it peculiar that my brother DID tell me NOT to mess with the 22; out of character for him to flat out tell me that. After that, he was offered obscene $$$ for it, and he held out for more $$$. Well ladies and gentlemen, here it sits in the "dungeon", in pieces of course. A year ago he asked if I had any plans of making it run...go figure. JM

Hi, juiceman.
I trust you reminded him strongly of his orders to NOT touch it. And that if he wants it running, he'd better get his hand well down into his deep pocket.

Just my 0.02.

You have a wonderful day. Best wishes. Deas Plant.

Deas: He won't dig into his pocket for that. If he can't catch fish with it, it isn't part of his budget. JM
