I am not sure if that is the reason side dumps were invented. I have seen side dumps on wheel loaders. One is an option for my 944 according to the parts book.

They were popular for back filling on sewer or water line construction work in city streets where maneuverability was small.

Fat Dan - I believe that's directly off the Cat liteature...Definitely makes digging and moving dirt easier without having to turn.
Brandt - PNW Hillbilly is 100% correct, I highly recommend you grab the manuals and they include installation instructions. You'll have to relocate your batteries and burn out some areas to mount the winch. It's all described in the manuals but I'm happy to provide any pictures you may need.
Also, the winch controls are usually hard to find. I'd look for a complete swap with the winch, cables and controls. Also check the control cables for free movement before you mount them in place.
Good luck and keep us informed of your progress!
Nick

Got your message. The winch project is getting further down the list. If it was a direct bolt on, it would still be high. When moving the battery boxes came into play, as well as the valves/lines ... it slipped quite a bit lower on the project list.

Brandt,
ya, I figured you would run into some modifications. I will happily take pictures or measurements on my battery boxes for you or anything else you need, I am also thinking of relocating the winching controls but haven't put much thought to where or how yet.
good luck with the mod and keep us updated!

Where are your battery boxes now??
I actually extended mine longer so the 2 bottom ones are a group 31 battery and the upper is the 4D.
