I'm wanting to put a winch on the back of my 955H 60A.  It seems that there is a window for a shaft in the back of the machine.  Is this the winch drive??  If anybody has any pix or P/Ns, that would be a great help.

There is Two types of wenches that go with 955C & 955E Hyster D4 and D4N. The D4 was an add on and the D4N was integrated into the transmission
I'm sure the 955H will be similar but it might use the Hyster D6N or D6.
Would be best to find a parts manual and look up the proper parts number using your serial number.

Thanx. I kinda remember a winch guy telling me about a Hyster D6. I have a Service Manual, but not a parts manual

Most of the Hyster winch part manuals have detailed instructions on how to install the winches on a variety of different machines. They are free to view here : www.alliedsystems.com/pubs/pubs.php# (go to allied winch->part manuals->archive)

@Brandt - My 955H has a factory D4E winch on it, I've attached some pictures for you. Mine is a powershift machine, I haven't used the winch much but from memory...I have to put the range selector in neutral for using the winch because it is driven off a shaft from the transmission PTO.

Interesting bucket you have there - what's the story on that angled plate inside it?

Cheers,

@neil - it's a side dump bucket, I've heard some possible reasons for it being on the machine. May have been a railroad machine or some other type of loading machine. It's a fairly low hour machine with a really good undercarriage and clean running D330. All the options are what got me interested in it.

Nice machine! Your hood slopes more than mine, and you don't have the homemade ROPS
I have a spare bucket and log grapple if your interested in either/both, let me know.

I have a sidedump bucket. They work great for pushing dirt back into a trench with the dirt along the trench. They also work great for moving deep heavy snow. I believe I read somewhere the reasoning for the sidedump was to save on the undercarriage by less turning. Running only forward and reverse to load out trucks.

thats why later models had excavator type grousers as they would slide more easily
