Hi, tmoline.
Where are you based? I have a contact here at an auto spares outlet who seems to be able to dig up a fair bit of non-auto stuff - and seems to enjoy doing it.
Quote from PhilC back on page 1:
"That part number is not for the lip seal it is for the entire seal assembly. Do you need the entire seal assembly or just the lip seal? The lip seal is still available part number 5P-2376 which was 5H4894."
Unquote.
Do you need the whole assembly or just the seals - 5P2376?
Just my 0.02.
You have a wonderful day. Best wishes. Deas Plant.

I vaguely recall edb talking about a carbon seal used on large (possibly ammonia) refrigeration compressors that worked as a substitute. Sorry, that's all the info I have.
Don't know if this will do any good but I believe the Twin Disc part number for the carbon ring is a #203077

The carbon seal I think is part number 5H4899 Element. Listed as not available on Cat.
These are the same style seal as used on the 15A D8s but obviously bigger.

My guess is that is a convertor made by Twin Disk for Cat. Just like the ones on the Allis Chalmers tractors. If so that seal is made of unobtainium! The last one popped up for sale on Australian ebay a year ago and lasted 8 minutes. Sold for just under $800! There are alot of tractors clunked in the head because of leaky seals. I found a used convertor for the Allis tractor I was working on last summer. It was a miracle that I found a good used one for a reasonable price! That will be your best bet for your tractor also. Those carbon seals have no repair to them.

Normally a little seal leakage would not be a problem but Cat cheaped out and didn't use the recirculation system, just let the leakage go to ground.

you could try sealing technologies in brisbane, qld. they custom made a carbon seal for the seawater cooling pump on a mirrlees marine engine i worked on i offsided to the ships engineer that did the job he's a family friend.
you would need the dimensions or a tech drawing of the part for them to copy. and it probably wouldnt be cheap.
