Does anybody know if a D6 9U ever had a slope board, or if one could be installed?

You can do pretty much anything - - - IF you have enough money, time and determination.

To answer your question, I have never seen a slope board on a U series dozer but that doesn't mean that somebody doesn't have one. You would need to set up hydraulics to control it, which would likely mean using the second circuit of your hydraulics - assuming that you do have hydraulics - or installing a diverter valve to change over from one circuit to the other if all your available circuits are already in use.

The actual fitting to the machine is no biggie, just sorting out the geometry and a 'little' welding,. For a donor, I would be looking for a slope board off a D5.

Sure I know of a D6 B that has a mounted ripper. I think the case was very much the same as the 9u so with a bit of luck it might a direct bolt on job. But it might take you years to find a ripper off a D6 B. But maybe a 977 track loader would fit also.

Sure. Rippers likewise - if you have enough money, time and determination. Just be aware though that the U series steering clutch cases and final drive housings were not designed to take the beating that a mounted ripper cam hand out to the tractor. The D6C series was the first of that model to be built for that.

Azfer donors, I think the D6B, D5 and D5B used the same back end but I am open to correction on that.

And - if you manage to get it all set up - try to remember that you don't have a D9G under yer butt when using it.

it might be easier to make or adapt a hydrualic controlled set of of 2 tyne drag rippers. and then your loading the correct part of the machine as your pulling with the draw bar.

Many D6 8/9U series machines in this country came new from the dealer fitted with rippers.

Have you ever tried working azza dozer while you have a towed implement behind you? Or had to unhook a towed implement to go back to dozing? And then hook it up again when you want the towed implement?

I'm 'justa pore, dumm bulldozer op'rator but I suspect there just might could possibly maybe perhaps be a reason for having rear MOUNTED rippers. Maybe someone smarter than me managed ter figger it out.

A kew-ree-yuss mind would like to know.

Hi all my old 9u has rippers and to over come the housing poblem the drawbar was removed and the ripper mount attached to the drawbar pin also. In oz here i have seen d5 s with the plate also ,but it bolted up under the case with 6 bolts, so the pull off the rippers was on the back of the case as well as from under neath, i think the case was much the same on d6b as Dees says and also the d5 was close to the same case too
