There was a vote, but the results weren't announced before they stopped the video portion of the meeting. I was hoping we'd hear something by now.

i can understand the reaction from the contract chapters when they were told you have to form as incorporated groups in your own right and thats the way it is.
the board could have handled that better and they have since acknowledged that fact. and have now started consulting with those chapters and the wider club.
i dont know if they have anything like this in america, like we do in queensland our state dept of fair trading set out what they call the "model rules" for community groups to use as their constitution and become incorporated bodies. basically its a model constitution all you add is the name of the group in the places indicated, the date of founding, the types of membership you have, when your chosen financial year is and thats about it. no it doesn't cover every situation but the idea is it a solid starting point and has all the must haves in a club constitution covered. its provided free of charge as a service to the community.
they also have a very comprehensive guides for groups wishing to become incorporated and how that process works.
i suggest any of the affected chapters to contact their state office of fair trading(or what ever dept handle incorporation of community groups) to see if they have a similar thing. they probably have infosheets on thier website.
becoming incoroporated isnt a big deal if my dad and his mate fred could do it just about anyone can. dad has never been great at writing or spelling and fred is dyslexic with a bit of proof reading help from their wives at a time when the model rules didnt exist.

Hi, trainzkid88.
I think most states in Australian have that 'model rules' in some form or other for the reasons that you have laid out. But I don't think this chapter issues affects Australian chapters much anyway as we have had to become incorporated bodies to begin our chapters. I think the issue mainly affects American chapters.
I am a founding member of Chapter 18 and, yes, we had to go through all of the rigmarole at the start too.
Just my 0.02..
You have a wonderful day. Best wishes. Deas Plant.

no it doesnt affect the australian chapters as they are independent anyway.
it does affect some the US chapters though as many thought they were sort of branches of the club and were covered by the original incorporation of acmoc and its insurances etc this apparently is not the case as they are not in the state of oregon.
i was doing some reading on the fair-trading website the other day and apparently for qld clubs to operate outside qld and be protected by the incorporation they have to apply to do so and pay the relevant extra fee.
this is all rather tricky and needs the professional advice of a suitably qualified solicitor. to get the right advice.
surely together the capters and the club could seek the right advice and the club provide some help to these chapters to incorporate if they so wished.
one solution has been the suggestion they become social clubs basically dont own anything, dont organise any public events or attend any to display anything the problem with that is where does the insurance cover come from. and theres no fun in not displaying our collections.
a simple solution might be to take the clubs constitution and modify it to suit. it would certainly be a good starting point.

Interesting time ahead. I finally watched the take over meeting. Where 2 of the leaders said they would not go to court if the present board did not comply with the decenters demands.
The only part I could agree fully with is a court battle would be the end of the current club, no matter what the outcome is.

The "group" meeting had a provision to have attendees donate to ACMOC per the video. Maybe their generous donation will cover the extra costs ACMOC has incurred for the "Group's" fiasco.
The meeting did give us a good look at who were the individuals driving the recall. Unfortunately, most of the attendees were sucked into the recall meeting by a couple of very angry instigators. Sad to see the way they handled their dissatisfaction and dissension. It could have been handled in a much better and civilized way. The "Group" made a move to divide and polarize the club and it remains to be seen if they really want to work with the current BoD or if they continue to destabilize the current ACMOC. .

Hi, Folks.
I am NOT going to name names here but I think I could say with a fair degree of certainty that some members of that 'clique' will not be coming back to the club, some 'coz of their anger and some 'coz they may feel they have a generous helping of 'henfruit' on their countenances - i.e., they took a stand and it didn't work for them and now they can't 'find reverse gear'. SAD in both cases.
That said, what I would like to see now is for these people to devote as much energy to making the club a success as they have to trying to hi-jack it. There is an old Chinese proverb about it being easy to break one stick but MUCH harder to break a bundle of them all tied together. Let'z see if we can't become that 'bundle of sticks'.

Just remember that a good number of the "concerned group" were the ones that brought this club from nothing to where it has been. If you look back to 2008 when the recession hit is when the downturn started. The lack of sales IMO was the start of the club's financial problems. Flame me if you want but check back on these points before you do.
