Thank you Hillibilly, I am prepared for the n/a Ca regs. Petereson in klamath falls and Cashmen in reno both said 4C185 wasn't a good no.

all paint companies have old cat yellow as part of their equipment enamel line up. and you can buy sample cards from the acmoc store. it is still used however for school buses and the like as DOT highway yellow. safety yellow is also very close. any paint shop can mix the colour for you from formula. and is available in lead or lead free formulations.
the secret is dont over thin it. use good quality thinners or shellite. remember 3 coats to get a full colour. with enamels it helps to mix up 4lt of colour at a time a empty paint tin is useful for this to give more consistent results.

Finding a problem getting yellow paint for a D4 we're restoring right now.
Ended up using Rustoleum Caterpillar Yellow with some hardener added.

what's the benefit of going with enamel as opposed to a single stage urethane (or two stage urethane for that matter)?
