I see that the WD6B in the Auman auction link above has z stamped into the serial number plate so the “z” must have been used as early as the mid 60’s. Never noticed it on a D6B ag cat before.

My 9 year old absolutely loves driving the old girl, I still think of this as a modern farm tractor even though its 50+ years old. 5 speed no tach, hour meter shows 7200

That is great. My kids enjoy driving the farm cats also. Only way we will keep another generation interested in old Cats. Nice looking D5, are you in eastern Washington or north Idaho? Curious about the 5 speed shift pattern as my D5 21J is 5 speed but neighbor commented that mine had a different shift pattern than what he thought was normal. Thanks for pics, Mike

For JM, Here is a pic of my D5. I took this pic to show the the previous owner the dozers new home. I promised him I would take care of it. He passed a few months later. Some day I will find a ROPS for it.

That's a nice tractor you have there. I am curious as to why you would want to fit a ROPS to it as I don't see any ROPS mounts, just an ordinary bush canopy would work fine.
Regards, Wombat

We know each other Mike, I'm the one that had the HD5 at Duggers plowing bee last fall. The shift pattern on this 98J is 1F-1R, 3F-4R, 4F pulling back and 2F-2R, and 5F forward
