i think that's an interesting comparison and would like to see hard numbers as well....and even include rubber tracks as well...
-here on the Canadian prairies it seems big rubber tires on 4WDs are King....see some rubber tracks but doesn't seem to be taking over...not yet anyways..

always dropping GOLD, all you have to do is just pick it UP !

Keep in mind fellas that implements have optimum speeds to get the desired soil results. In other words, you just can't pull the implement faster and faster and still get your tillage results. In reality, the larger the tractor, the larger the implement to take advantage of the increased horsepower. The true cost comparison is the cost per acre and not the cost per hour.

Agreed, I remember my first boss telling me that if I was plowing faster than 5mph, I needed another share on the plow. As hp goes up, the implement gets wider. Of course, there'd be limitations based on field topology and access widths as well. Round this way, our fields tend to be smaller and properties more disjointed, meaning plenty of roading. It also tends to be rolling like the NorthWest. I'd be interested in both numbers, per acre and per hour especially when including labor.

the newest fad in my area for now is pulling specialized tillage tools that are narrow by the old standards but in order for them to work correctly they have to be pulled real fast.
