So what you are saying is that the T2 bolt pattern is the same as the 6U bolt pattern, and the same drawbar will mount on either model machine?

D4 drawbar bracket to case bolt pattern is the same up to the change at 39A,40A
Later brackets are a heavier casting than earlier units.
quoting old magnet. confirmed. all D4 bolt pattern up to 39A were the same. the casting on the 7u series would be heavier though.

there is a great commonality of parts in the D4 tractors but caterpillar would upgrade as the years went along making improvements.

I am sure they did. I am a Marine and a Machinist by trade. My attention to detail is second to none. I am always looking at things from an engineering angle and looking how things have changed over time because of necessity or technology or both. It fascinates me how man has taken the tools he has had in the past and forged out this great world of ours.
