I own a 1955 D4 7U Bulldozer. I have been shopping around to buy a Rear Drawbar and Rear Power Takeoff for my dozer. While shopping I noticed that the drawbars and power takeoffs for a D4 made from the 1940s to the 1960s have the same bolt pattern for mounting them. My question is, " Is the Drawbar and Power Takeoff interchangeable on various year D4 bulldozers, and what different years will fit each other"? Any and all help would be highly appreciated, and as always Semper Fi.

I have been doing just that. I have spent the last 6 or 7 hours looking at parts drawing and writing down numbers for just the Drawbar alone. The Drawbar Assembly number has changed 4 times between the 1940s and 1960s, and so has the individual parts part numbers. The only thing I have yet to find out about the assembly is if the bolt pattern to attach the drawbar to the machine is the same for the above period of time. I have looked a many pictures of D4s from the 1940s thru the 1960s and the bolt pattern attachment point looks the same. but looks can be deceiving. I would hate to purchase a drawbar I cannot use. I need to find someone that has been wrenching Bulldozers since Christ was a Corporal and has the knowledge from hands on experience. (Experience: That fancy word we give our mistakes).

D4 drawbar bracket to case bolt pattern is the same up to the change at 39A,40A
Later brackets are a heavier casting than earlier units.
D4 PTO's have the same bolt mounting pattern through the 78A series.

Old Magnet,
If I have done my home work right, the following should be correct. Drawbars from 1947 to 1959, and Power Takeoffs from 1947 to 1962 should fit my 1955 D4 7U Bulldozer?
