Steve - nice find, it looks to be in good condition.
A little footnote, the USSC on the side of the tractor stands for United States Sugar Corp. They are located in Clewiston, FL The number is their company number. USSC was the original folks to start the DW-6 along with Clewiston Motor Co.(now KellyTractor Co.) the S. Florida Cat dealer. Over 150 units were built down there.

One of the fellas in my local HCEA chapter has a few of those for sale here in Florida from what I understand. And JEY is right on the money about them coming from right down the road in Clewiston.

The first one of these I found was in Sebring florida in a scrap yard, I Wasent able to talk to the owner but hope to next week when we will be working in the area.

What made these desireable for use in the sugar cane business??

Steve, I don't have an answer for you that is authoritative, but I would guess that they were faster than a steel-tracked tractor, and they didn't need the low ground pressure that a tracked vehicle offered. GWH

Steve, interesting that the D6 made it up north. I was at the auction that it sold at last year in Clewiston. They had a pair that had railroad coupler's on and were used to move sugar cane rail cars around. Must have been quite a ride as they are very "bouncy" to operate. I have attached a picture of the auction showing the coupler's.

I called the yard in Sebring that you sent me the contact info. They told me they went out of business last year and sold off their equipment including the D6 9U. I would like to find a rubber tire 9U if anyone has a lead.

Last picture is my DW6, that will be next year's restoration project.
