Here is a picture of the purple one, Big Al the Allis Chalmers used in trucks for a while in the 60's/70's in didn't last long, plus a picture of a 6-110 both of these are set up on a trailer for shows, the 110 was used a sa truck engine for awhile but it didn't last long either the blower shafts kept breaking they didn't like the variable RPM's the made out as gen sets and such.

I think I'd be fairly certain in saying that the engine is not a GM 6-110.
The 6-110 has a distinctive combined manifold and muffler, that was peculiar to that model.
Take a look at the 6-110 in these pics of the old A-C HD20's on the Van Natta Bros website, and you'll see what I mean ..

www.vannattabros.com/dozer15.html

AC, EUCLID/TEREX and others had the combined muffler.manifold on 6-71's and 6-110's in some equipment while in other applications there was just an exhaust manifold with header pipe to an external muffler.

The last manifold/muffler I bought for a 6-71 was over a thousand dollars. So the next time I needed one it got just a manifold and the muffler went elsewhere. Same with a couple of 6-110's I had.

Replied by enginenut on topic 6-110 differences
Aarons' example of a 6-110 shows some details that differ from the inline 71's.On early 110s the scavenging blower was a centrifugal more to the rear of the engine and connected by a duct to the engine airbox with a long opening where Aarons' engine has a flat plate behind the more conventional roots type blowerused on the 71's and others.I think the centrifugal blower was replaced with roots type on later engines. Also notice the lack of vertical ribs or gussets at the oil pan flange.

For what it's worth, the AC 20 with the 6-110 I looked at a year ago had the blower low on the right side of the engine under the muffler combined with the exhaust manifold.

I've seen that triple air cleaner setup before, but it was a long time ago, I'm guessing either on an engine at Diesel school or in an oil field application...a company here that did sandblasting used to have a compressor w/a 6-110, nice engine as I remember, quieter than a 71. Also, a dirt contractor here has an old Terex scraper w/a 110. Actually, he has 2 of the old dinosaurs, the other one has a 12V71...

Aaron, thanks for the pic of the Big Al, I had never seen one in person before, just heard of them...that color scheme could only come from the psychedelic 60's...:eek
I saw a brochure pic on another site, & it seems AC was winning the HP race, for a while, Big Al pulled like 450HP...more than Cummins or Detroit had at the time.
