If you lived closer you would be welcome to borrow it:) I should point out that I did not pay $17,000. I got it off Gumtree for $250. It was sold as being siezed but when I had a closer look it had been dropped and the sheet metal was locking up the flywheel. A little panel beating and it freed up.I'd be tempted to try my Case tractor hydraulics first, even though they only run a 2,000 PSI, that might be enough pressure to push pins and bushes on old 2 Ton Cat tracks, or I could move closer to PhilC and borrow his fancy pump when he's not using it!.

According to the manual that Eddie linked to the pump is a four stage or speed of pump. The same principle as your two speed pump. I have never seen one with four speeds before. Looking at the pump in the book it looks the same as yours. When you say "4 stage pump", is that what that old hand pump is, a 4 speed pump? I have a 1970's vintage Cat hand pump and 60 ton ram I found on gumtree for $250 and that has a 2 speed pump, the ram moves quite a lot when there is no pressure on it, maybe 1/2" per stroke, but once the ram encounters resistance the pumping action on the handle becomes much lighter, but the ram only moves maybe 1/8".

"I also joined a year ago. had been on here a couple of times as a non-member and found the info very helpful so I got a one year subscription (not very expensive at all) to try it out. I really like all the resources on here so I just got a three year. I think its a very small price for what you can get out of this site."
