Looking for old threads

OK Neil, so I found the old thread, thankyou, and hit the reply button which opened up the reply box, typed in a question for Stephen, hit the submit button, and a red warning flashed on the screen saying unable to submit because there was no subject heading, so I tried to type in a subject heading but that box is locked.

I tried twice, thinking the first time I must have screwed up, as usual, but no, got the same result, I'm unable to refresh the thread.

There is a old saw about this "you cannot teach a old dog new tricks".  Hopefully that is not true that both you and I can still learn new things.

Niel thank you for that tip will give that try on some other sites too.

Yes Mike I try checking PM ever week or so just because.  Hopefully I will soon see the right people to ask about parts.

Thanks Mike, I'll let IT know. I'll save a post to it, and then you try it again to see if it works. That subject box on the editor should not show for you and I think that's what the issue is - the box is there so the software expects a value, but since it's greyed out, no value can be submitted.

Cheers,

Neil, I have been trying to locate an old thread "Pony rebuild In Progress". Started by Jw74 in 2014. Not sure what I am doing wrong or if it still exists. Any advise would be appreciated.

Bruce, type in "Pony rebuild In Progress" including those double quotation marks into the search field up above on the right and hit enter. It's the 6th thread to appear. Note that if you have a smaller screen, you might have to go to "page two" to get to that thread. The thread was there from Jw74 and it was dated 2014

Thank you Neil, I was trying to use the search function at the top of the screen that is in the yellow bar to the right of Profile. What is that "search" area for? It says "advanced search". I put all the info in that location and nothing was found. You would think that the thread should have shown up there also. Just a bit confusing. Thanks much for clearing it up for me.

Hi Bruce, I used the same string in the Advanced Search in the yellow bar that you did and it still found the thread. I'd have to see what you're actually doing to see what the difference is. If it keeps giving problems, you could send some screenshots of what you're typing which may provide some clues

just as a side note putting a phrase in quotation marks also work with google and other search engines so they search for that phrase not just the words.

Mike, I forwarded the issue to the tech team - it looks like the problem is related to the subject field. Once a fix is in place, I'll retry it and let you know

Thanks Neil, I was starting to wonder if it is my old desk top computer causing me these issues, today I tried searching the Discussion section for "D4400 oil pan gasket" and "D4 sump gasket" and "D4 7J sump gasket" but didn't get any results, am I the only one having these problems?

The other thing I find when replying to a thread, is my previous post is still in my reply box, so I need to delete it before I can start typing a fresh reply.
Thanks for your help
Mike
