The 40/42MT is good for 900 cu. in
The 50MT is good for 1800 cu. in
The D8800 is 831 cu in. so your getting near the limit for that size engine plus your doing "very cold" starts.
The D6 is 525 cu. in. for comparison.

Besides the compression there is also a lot of mass to get rotating there also, plus things get a little tighter when it gets cold.

That picture of the starter installation has a 50MT starter. Look for the three brush access plugs as the 50MT uses three pairs of brushes. You will need 2000a battery capacity to spin a 12v unit to full rating.

ok, this project is going over budget, will have to increase my empty beer bottle collection to pay for these up grades. at least i'm learning and buying the right stuff the first time not the second time around like in the past.
