Here is a D2 modified for long legs

That would work. Is it a factory orchard with the nicer seat mod, or is it all fabricated by you? Either way, it looks great!

I had two “complete” D2s. One was orchard, one was conventional seating. I thought the orchard did not look as cool as the regular model. I’m skinny and 6ft. But could not picture myself sitting for a few hours in the conventional seat. Too cramped.

I narrowed the conventional seat a bit and built a frame to hold it. I can put plenty of seat cushion in there . The “roll bar” is exactly for just hangin on or getting in n out. When discing i generally stand up - easier on my back.

Lots of options !

nice! like the conventional look as well, but an orchard could definitely be set up better for a tall fella. the hold on bar is definitely a good idea though. Would love to see more pics sometime :)

i'm caught in the middle....i like to modify if it makes equipment more functional/comfortable/reliable for the operator etc...rollbar, shields, gauges for more data, safety...etc...it has to have a purpose....

but i like original too...original appearance...colour..style...lettering etc...

i think someone on the board mentioned every time you change something...from original...you become your own engineer...very true!

-in the end, its what you like and want that matters

-2 cents please

always dropping GOLD, all you have to do is just pick it UP !

It's pretty easy to set the seat on a D2 back further, particularly if it's a later model with the solid fenders. You just need a couple of pieces of 3" channel and you can set it back as far as you want. I'm not as handsome as the rest of you and I set mine on the rearmost OEM hole plus the 3" lift and it's ideal for me. But you could definitely set it back another 6" which would make it ideal for you better-looking fellows : )

Cheers,
Neil

Thats good to know Neil. I am leaning more that way as those tend to come up around here more often, plus I like the lighter weight for hauling purposes. A D2 could be moved with a 3/4 ton with the right trailer and setup I believe.

Ideal rig would be a gooseneck on a 3/4 ton Aaron, but a bumper pull would work with a careful driver

I move my D2 and tractors with my 10ton GVW tilt trailer bumper pull with my F250 Ford--it only lacks stopping power on down hills!! I think a 5th wheel hitch is more stable than a Goose Neck-and I and all my friends had 5th wheel hitches to tow our camping trailers out on the beach at Montauk Pt.
