Thanks for the tips :) I'll have to keep my eyes open for a fender tank model. My interest in Cats came about 20 years ago when my uncle got a 37' RD-4. Would be really cool to find one like it, but a D2 or D4 would be nice as well.

Where are you located? If we knew where you were we could maybe point you towards a tractor . Sounds like you are ok with a fixer upper or are you going to try and put it to work

I live in Lancaster, Pa. I don't mind a fixer upper. I do hope to use it a little, probably for plowing at our families farm now and then. if a blade is on it, then occasional dirt moving or brush clearing.

Aaron, if covid lets up, there's a Brownsville PA show annually that features all sizes of tractors. There's also ACMOC Ch8 thats based in NJ that would know of units in your area - look up Chapter details on this site. Head over to Gerhart Machinery who are in Lititz I think and see what toys he has around the back. He has a D8-36A with a #80 scraper that I'm salivating over but he might have some runners or near-runner D4s for you to look at

Cheers,
Neil

Yea, that D8 and scraper would be a cool set, drooled a little over the D8 lol. They do have a D4 with a trackson traxcavator on it, would be cool, but wouldn't be able to haul it though.

The 2-Ton is not your machine if you are that tall. I love my 2-ton but at 6'4" it is like cramming a sardine into a can. Most of the early gas and diesel Cats have nice seats but I do not know if anyone in engineering had ever heard of the words ergonomic design.

Nice looking "conversion" even with a mini roll bar for getting in and out of the seat. :)
