One option might be to remove the pony and rig direct electric start. Tow start is also an option but may be complicated.
Need a link number to determine height. 9.00" pitch track came in 5.12, 5.25 and 5.41" height when new.

Neil,
What you found was not too different from when I got my 14A. The pony was stuck. At least mine did not have a blade on it so we could drag it to start it. Probably the hardest part of getting the pony out is to come up with a hoist of some kind. We took mine out with a forklift and chains cradling it and put it back in with a boom truck and chains.
I know you like the 36As better, but hey, here is a 46A that needs a home. That is too nice a tractor to just let sit there. Give Chum a call and I think a plan could be put together. Then you might find a parking place over in Arcade.

OM, we'd need to drill and tap the attaching holes as this one has the bosses undrilled. I'm not against an electric start but factoring in the starter motor and batteries, and Fred's desire to be able to sell it economically, depending on the damage, it might be cheaper to fix the pony. We'll know when we get it apart.
Jan, I don't think I have the procedure for removing the pony. Is it just a case of removing the front mount and the pony will slide out of the hole? That end doesn't look like it has any attachment points - just the pinion housing fits into the hole with an o-ring. Fred's going to see if anyone in the area has a service truck. I'm guessing a callout for an hour might cost $150? That would be the quickest to get it off and on to the back of the pickup. Another method would be a chainfall on an a-frame arrangement. I'll contact Scotty and see if that pipe alongside the pony will interfere with removal
Cheers,
Neil

Just a heads up.
I had to drop the skid pan to get at two of the mounting bolts that are behind on the lower oil pan on the pony. The big t/c cooling lines, I just ratchet strapped them out of the way (there is enough movement to get at the bolts), I did remove the mag, but did not remove the main engine air breather (and it is the same as this one) I also didn't have to remove the hood and exhaust.
I used 2" heavy wall square tubing rigged over the canopy, and made sure it stuck out just past the track, and using a come-a-long and a couple of pry bars, it just wiggled out of there, then it will swing out over the track. Back the truck up to the track and side it into the box of the truck, (I wished I would of used a peace of 3/4" ply wood to side it on, to prevent damaging my tailgate) it is heavy.
I have the same pony motor in my garage if someone wants it, the head has a hair line crack and leaks coolant but other then that I think it is in good shape
Just my two cents
Virgil

Hi Team,
there is a hydraulically operated Safety Control device inside the trans that will keep the Safety Lever in the Neutral position if/until The Trans Oil Press drops below I think around 100 psi, thus you have to really force against the spring in that device to move the lever from Neutral.--shows it works.
As said above, There should be two actual pony engine mounts--one at the front that clamps to a boss on the timing case and bolts to the main engine block and another under the pony that attaches to the main's engine block near the oil pan/sump rail and a there maybe a bracket up higher at the front of the pony block--plus the ancillaries you mentioned.
Sad to hear of the pony abuse by some previous turkey taking the pony out.
EDIT,
also as far as i am aware that being a Powershift Transmission machine they cannot be tow started as with the engine not turning the Trans Pump it therefore cannot build pressure to engage the clutches to then turn the engine to start it.
Cheers,
Eddie B.

Thanks gents, I'll take a look in the parts catalog that's on its way. I wonder if I can get at the two bolts on the backside without removing the sump guard - really don't want to drop that......Would you happen to know how many gallons of coolant? Fred needs to round up some container and have them ready underneath to catch most of it.

4 five gallon pales will get you low enough
