Hi just picked up a new to me d7 today runs decent. Started tearing into it and the thermoids are all but gone. Where can I get them or what is my options. I thought about making my own. I’ve heard of nylon being used as well instead of belt material. Thnks for the help.

I got mine from Cat when I did my 7M. They weren’t too bad as I remember. It’s a bear to do by yourself, but check your engine/transmission alignment while you’re in there. Could be the reason the old ones were shot. Good luck with your project

BP.

I would have thought your machine should have a oil clutch.

The oil clutch started with 3T23647 so this machine was built just a bit before that.

I wish it did have the oil clutch. Be a whole lot nicer for clearing timber. Does anyone have the part number for the thermoids by chance? Gonna call cat and see if they can get them today. Thnks.

Did Cat recommended that the thermoids be installed to push instead of pull on the D7s as they did on the D8s?

No they didn’t. I had read that the d8 has them that way. What is the general thought on putting them to push instead of pull? Last longer?
