There is the "back up" ripper option.

Like to hear about it when you have time. Do you mean shanks on the dozer to back up and ripp?

Yes, I'm referring to the back of the dozer mold board type that swing up when going forward and rip in reverse. There are modern versions but I'm referring to the old style that were typically military spec on straight blades and utilized four rippers. It is also possible to mount two on the early D4 angle blades as well. Helps a lot when cutting in to a bank.

I have three backup rippers on my D-8 cable lift dozer blade. In hard ground, using them is the only way to start cutting in to break through the crust.

Thank you for follow-up comments about finding, or not, a ripper set-up for an old D4 7U. Somehow I knew it wouldn't be easy.

This is the only pic I have currently of the scarifier that was fitted on the HT4's.
Modified to use D3 shanks rather the scarifiers.

This ripper is an Original trackson ripper! The diference is that they use 2 cylinders instead off 1 on the no4 ripper

I agree with Niels, trackson scarifier for an HT4. Identical to mine, and also modified to use a heavier shank.
