Mounted ripper on my old D4

I am very interested in knowing how rippers could be attached to my father's D4 7U (SN 7U40918) and where they might be found. The hydraulics are there, but it came with a drawbar. This tractor has more power than traction, so tracks spin when the blade cuts in or when trying to push more than loose soil, but I think it might pull a couple of rippers about 1 foot deep. It is now a ranch tractor, and rippers would help with moving dirt and getting grass roots to penetrate soil compacted by many years of grazing.

Thanks to OM for the parts photo,

That's for the 40A only. DPete could you post the diagrams for the 78A-up and 7U that I sent you. Thanks.

Here ya go, I think they quoted me for the wrong ripper, instead their quote of $2500 was for the late generation Japan D4C's which is quite a bit less ripper, no real mounting plate. They are confused about my old D4. 78A is on left, 7U on right

Here's what they are calling a D4C ripper

Thanks, The unit in your original picture looks close. I was kind of wondering why they would be fabricating units for such old models. Just to good to be true? I'm curious as to how it comes out if you pursue it.

Looked up the "Bedrock" site and it does show unit for D4D,E but I bet that number you got is not the correct price.

Yeah, they have been trying to sell me the one for the D4C which is incorrect, we'll see what they can do on the D4D version + freight to my door. It's a long ways from China LOL

The one in your original pic looks very much like the ones you see on a lot of the Brazilian D4 D/E's.
The ripper they are saying is for a D4C was originally fitted to the D3/931.

JRMunn, the chances of finding an original setup for your 7u are slim. I believe the No4 ripper will bolt up except for the draw plate underneath but I think you would be better of modifying a D3 ripper or building your own.

This is the only pic I have currently of the scarifier that was fitted on the HT4's.
Modified to use D3 shanks rather the scarifiers.

There is the "back up" ripper option.

That is some really nice looking ripper in that first pic. and the price was super. I bought the one in my pic for $1300 and bought 4 unused shanks for $500 with shipping and teeth I have about $2500 in it and still have to fabricate the mounting plate and the lower brace. Looks like this ripper has been used very little, I noticed the center pocket has some signs it was used some. Good luck on yours. Charlie
