Attached is a photo of the raised wording on the frame. If you are standing on the rear, it is on the left side. The only other numbers I have found are on the rear by the handle. They read G41.

"Illinois USA" is part of the COUNTRY OF ORGIN marking that was required when a manufacturer marketed product overseas. In your case the angle iron frame of the grader was built using this steel. I imagine the manufacturer of the structural steel was wisconsin steel works south chicago.

"g41" is a part number of the handle.

Thanks for the information. Do you know if the grader was manufactured in Stephens or Minneapolis? Or, why it is named a Pony Patrol on the grader when it is a Hi-way Patrol No 1 according to OzDozer?

OzDozer, Do you know why Pony Patrol is on the grader when it is a Hi-way Patrol No. 1?

OzDozer, I think I just answered my question to you. I looked at your Caterpillar brochure more closely. I think our grader was most likely manufactured around 1923. There really isn't any information as to why the name plate says Pony Patrol. It could just be because it was horse drawn. Thanks again for the information. The Caterpillar brochure is great.

Hi Terry, Did your son have time to look at his Russell catalog for any information on the model of our Russell?

It could also be that it was named Pony if it was a smaller grader and/or drawn by fewer horses

Cheers,

That's an interesting thought. It does measure 10' 2" or as I measured it at 10' 3" long which matches the information posted by Bruce Oz. It is a small grader.
