I had a friend look at is into IH, he said looks like some IH pieces. But would like a better view of the engine. He is going to look at the archives in Madison next time he is there.

Deas,

I have frequently heard about the head cracking problem and jet heads that you mention, but never really knew the details of the problem or the function of jet heads. The guy that told me about the small water tank made it sound like it was just to raise the coolant level to compensate for tractor pitch. He described the problem as the out of level condition causing overheating, although that does not seem likely.

He also indicated that it was only a problem with the TD-24. Was that small tank only on the TD-24s? The guy who told me this seemed to be speaking from his experience as being a dealer, so I am not sure that he had this completely understood. He made it sound like the little tank was his idea to solve a problem.

In any case, that huge mockup dozer sure looks like they had some big plans for the TD-24.

Yes-the surge tank was for steep angle operation, as I read it the water would run out of the back head when the tractor was pointed downhill too much-they used it on the TD18 too I think...
