My 2 cents worth of advice........

As a seller of this machine, I would be worried about the reaction of a novice buyer when he discovers his "restoration" project is a half breed of two different series of D2 even though it has matching serial number tags.

I would not let the auction go to completion without contacting each bidder and also posting a correction by answering the "question" I sent you through ebay pointing out the problem with the description.

You may be lucky enough to have someone bidding that knows what it is, wants it for what it is, and is willing to pay the price for it, but maybe not.

ccjersey, your last post is right on the money. Too many people on the bay "don't know much about this kind of thing" even after the problem is pointed out in detail. Or the practice of taking all the pics from one side because the parts are all missing on the other side, or that big dent they didn't see, etc.

Quite simple answer as already pointed out, someone has fitted a 3400 (D2 3J/5J) engine into a 5U back end complete with its dozer idlers, and swapped the serial number plate.
What you see is what you get --a 'Bitza'.
Its quite an easy change as the flywheel housing bolt pattern and the clutch were identical. The same can be done with a D4 by interchanging 4G,7J, 2T and 5T 4.25" bore 4400 engines with the 4.5" bore engine in the 6U and 7U series machines.

Most of my ebay correspondence winds up in the "junk email" file these days.

Always have to look through it, before deleting it. "my ebay/messages" will have all of them though.

Hope your sale went well. Not a bad price for it, just hope the mismatch was not a surprise.
