I got a call today from my wife who got a call from our neighbor who was driving by and mentioned that my former tractor storage tent (up till three weeks ago) which is 20' x 24' and weighs in excess of 1000 lbs was wrapped around my well pump house. When I got home the two pictures attached represented what I saw. The tent was anchored with four 2' rebar stakes that were driven into the ground and bent around the main 3" tube frame members. Well tent was done-for and I was pissed! What do I do when I am pissed, I fire up the D4D and get even (well kinda). This is what a tent looks like with wind gusts that stuck it to my pump house with collapsed 3" tube frame and after I ran it over about eight times with the D4D.

So for all of you who think California is paradise, please reset your expectations if our taxes, gas prices and oh-yeah home prices have not taken your breathe away, beware of the wind.

Sometimes you have to do something like that to keep your sanity.

Plus it feels so good.

I saw the roof tops (cement and clay tile) get blown off of 3 dairy houses in San Jacinto, Ca. a month ago. In the same area the tops of the haybarns, that have been up for decades, decided to fly into the next zip code, with the timbers still attached to the sheet metal. Fortunatly, the cows held onto each other and just kinda slid until they hit the fence! now Ive seen these temp shades that blew over your well house, They have male/female 'swedged' connections that are suppose to have a through bolt in them. This way just the fabric blows away. Were the 'legs' still in the ground (anchored)? If they were, I would suppose the through bolts / pins were not in place....I am guessing nobody got hurt, that's a good thing.

We get semi's blown over, I don't know if they are loaded or not.

There are rocks in the area. People call them 'river rocks'. They are smooth and kinda round. They are hard granite. They actually achive their shape because the wind blows them around....

You are lucky that it didn't blow over to a neighbors and damage something or worse yet into the street and cause an accident.

There was one of those emt conduit and pastic tarp things (not as heavy as yours) that blew into my girlfriends car and put a foot diameter dent. $1,000 later it was fixed. Bad thing it was my dad's $50 awning. Man, talk about the "man in the middle" of a squabble......

I have never labored under the misconception that California is paradise...the thousands of Californicator transplants that have been moving here for about 50 years keep telling a different story...

Nice lookin D4D i n the background must have came out of the pacific northwest .

Maybe that's why they have so many of these in California......sorry about your tent!

I think I see what your problem is.....You placed your pump house and tank in the way of anything blowing by.
It does get windy on that sidehill at times. I do like your logging arches, is that what I see? Looks like two of them from the road.
I placed my well and pump house down in the canyon, out of the way from balled-up tents blowing by. The problem that is going to get this set-up will be blow-downs from the Oak trees!!!! (smashed stuff).

Sometimes you can't win.

D4E, You are near correct about the D4D. It was from Eastern Washington.

Alan627b, You ain't kidding about the wind power!

Eric, Yeah I know pumphouse in the way of debris but wind normally (90% of the time) blows West to East but with the high-pressure we have had the wind has been in reverse East to West and up, up, and away with the tent. You are correct about the arches....I like and the wife "really" hates them so of course I can't get rid of them!.

Here is how the tent rental companies keep their's from blowing away.
On each leg, they use a 55gal plastic drum, with a 5/8 nylon rope threaded through the bung holes, and tied to the upper frame work, then filled with water. Seems to work for them.
